THE HAVARD CHAPEL OF BRECON CATHEDRAL
The main feature of both Transepts is the triple Lancet, set high in the wall. The
Havard Chapel was originally two chapels, and you can compare it with the Sacristy
and the S. Lawrence Chapel. You will find many interesting things here -- a mediaeval
alms-dish, a fourteenth century tomb, two ancient Communion benches, a "Squint"
though which you can see the High Altar, and a painting of the Baptism of Christ by
Albani. It is now the Chapel of the South Wales Borderone.
(This document was retyped from a copy of Wood McMullen's book. This is only the
first half of the book. The second half of the book contains FAMILY GROUP
REPORTS of some 92 Havards and their descendents as identified and organized by
Wood McMullen. A copy of the original book may be found in the City of Lufkin Library
in Lufkin, Texas in the genealogy room. Harold W. Havard)
